Game Day

Expectations for Referees

1. BE ON TIME!
   
2. Dress Appropriately - please come ready to work for the game with proper clothing for the weather conditions and appropriate footwear.  You may be sent home if you are not prepared to work.
   
3. Work as hard as the players

Be Prepared – the Reality of Refereeing

• You will make many correct calls
• You will also make some mistakes
• You will get yelled at
• It isn’t always your fault
• When dealing with Coaches:
  • Be polite and respectful
  • Use ASK, TELL, DISMISS
  • We will support you 100%

Game Day Administration

Before the game:

1. Collect Game Card and flags from the main tent.
2. Check in all players
3. Start your game as close to game time, early if possible

During the game:

1. Have FUN!
2. Give your best effort
3. Make sure the game is SAFE and FAIR
4. Know the Rules (Call Fouls)
5. Have FUN!
   

After the Game:

1. Record the score on the game card
2. Coach signatures to confirm the score
3. Complete your name and your WNFC assigned  ID number
4. Return flags and any borrowed equipment to the tent.
   
5. Put the completed game cards in the container at the main tent
6. Let the Field Director or Coordinator know if:
   You are having trouble with the coaches or fans
   You have questions about league rules
   If the level is too easy or too difficult for you
