Select (Travel) Program
**NOTE: THIS IS A TRAVEL PROGRAM THAT COMPETES IN REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS. If you do not intend to travel with our select program please register for our recreational league here. All players who play Select are REQUIRED to participate in rec, except High School age players.
Who is this program for?
This is for young people that enjoy soccer, and want to dedicate more time to competitive soccer. Specifically, the program is designed for players who are looking to improve their technical skills in preparation for tournaments throughout the region in a competitive atmosphere.
Is this an alternative to recreational soccer?
No, all players who play select are required to play in our Rec League. Although, High School players are not required to participate as there is no available league for their age group.
How old does my player have to be to play?
Age divisions range from U8-U19 for boys and girls.
What is the goal of the program?
To provide an opportunity for young people who enjoy soccer, and give them the opportunity to improve within the game in a competitive atmosphere. The ideal participant is one that wishes to improve technically to positively impact their HS and MS programs.
How often is training? What is the time commitment?
Training schedules will be at the discretion of the assigned select coach. WNFC participates in 4 outdoor and 3 indoor tournaments. Training begins in mid-July. Our outdoor season ends in October, our indoor season generally runs in December and February.
Who will conduct the training?
Training for all WNFC Select teams sessions are under the direction of our select team coaches, who receive training from WNFC’s DOC.
What does the program cost? And what does that include?
The select fee is $250 per player. In addition to the select fee you can expect to pay $100 for your uniform kit. It is currently a kit ordering year. This year you will not be able to select which tournaments you would like to attend and pay for individually. The $250 fee is for all touraments, whether you attend all or not.
All other travel related fees are the responsibilty of the parents or guardians.
What is the Volunteer Fee?
Volunteers are a the backbone of our program and we are always looking for help in several capacities. When registering your player for Select, each family will be charged a $50 Volunteer Fee. This fee will only be paid ONE time per family. IE: If you register two players, you will only play the $50 fee once.
If you would like to be reimbursed for this fee, you can volunteer 5 hours of your time to the club in many different ways. Information about volunteer opportunities will be communicated at a later date.
What is the time frame for the program?
Training would begin in July to prepare for fall seasonal play. The season usually lasts through October.
August 21-23: Select Weekend: Denver
September 12th : Select weekend Casper
October 9th-11th: Select Weekend Gillette
October 23rd-25th: Select weekend Rapid City
